Dynamic Damage

by Winter

Dynamic Damage shows animated damage numbers above entities when they take damage, and the numbers reflect the damage the server actually applied.

FabricNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.21.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

Each damage number pops up at its entity, drifts gently upward and fades out with easing. Players can turn the display off entirely, set how far away indicators are still rendered, scale the base size of the numbers, choose a text color and define a custom damage format string such as one decimal place. The server sends damage events to nearby clients, so the numbers match real damage dealt rather than estimates.

The mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it for the numbers to match. It requires Cloth Config API and Fabric API, and Mod Menu is optional for opening its settings. Builds are published for Fabric and NeoForge 1.21.1 – 26.1.2, with 1.2 for 1.21.8 as the latest Fabric file and 1.3.0-mc26.1.2 for 26.1.2 as the latest NeoForge file. The code is not open source, and it is released under All rights reserved.

Key features

  1. Animated damage numbers

Numbers appear above an entity in a pop effect, then rise and fade out on a smooth curve.

  2. Real damage values

Damage events come from the server, so the displayed numbers show the damage actually dealt to nearby players.

  3. Display settings

Players can disable the indicators, limit the maximum render distance and adjust the base scale of the numbers.

  4. Text color and format

The text color can be changed, and a custom format string sets how damage values are written, such as one decimal place.
