DayCounter

by kvapilvaclav0

DayCounter shows a small Day N badge in the top-right corner of the screen, counting the in-game days a player has survived in the current world.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT License1.21.8 – 1.21.11

What it does

A single badge sits in the top-right corner and reads Day 1, Day 2 and so on. The count rises once per in-game day cycle, and the badge briefly pulses yellow when the day flips, marking another night survived. Vanilla Minecraft tracks dayTime internally and only surfaces it deep inside the F3 screen, so DayCounter pulls that number into a normal field of view where it can inform how a player plans a session.

The counter is kept per world, so each save or server address starts from its own baseline. The Y key toggles the HUD on or off, and the badge respects F1, staying hidden in menus when the HUD is hidden. The mod keeps its footprint on screen as small as possible.

Installation requires Fabric API. DayCounter is client-side only, so only the client needs it and servers running vanilla content work without it. Files are published for Fabric on four game versions, 1.21.8 – 1.21.11, and the code is under the MIT License, but the project is not open source.

Key features

  1. Day counter badge

A tiny top-right badge shows the number of in-game days survived in the current world.

  2. Day flip pulse

When the day advances, the badge flashes yellow briefly to mark the new day.

  3. Per-world baseline

Each world or server address keeps its own count, so saves do not share a day total.

  4. Hotkey and HUD hiding

The Y key toggles the badge, and it stays hidden whenever F1 hides the HUD or a menu is open.

Use cases

Tracking nights on survival

Players in survival worlds can see at a glance how many days a run has lasted.

Pacing a play session

A visible day count helps players judge how much of a cycle remains before a planned stop.

Who it’s for: Players who want a minimal day counter in their HUD while playing vanilla survival, creative or multiplayer worlds, and who do not need extra time or coordinate information on screen.

How it compares

Full comparison

Survival Time is a Fabric client mod for 1.21.11 that is client-side only and open source under the MIT License. Time Of Day Indicator is also client-side only on Fabric, but only for 1.21.4 and is not open source, since its license is All rights reserved. Day Time Count is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, is client-side only and covers 1.21.11 – 26.1.2, so it reaches more versions than DayCounter.

Questions

Does DayCounter need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required, and DayCounter runs on the Fabric loader only.

Does the server need DayCounter?

No. Players add it to their own game, and a server needs no copy.

Does the day count carry over between worlds?

No. The count is kept per world and per server address, so each one starts from its own baseline.
