Cut to the Chase
by Lumegrin
Cut to the Chase lets a server owner cut blocks down into their raw ingredients, so a player can turn a block into the materials it was made from.
What it does
The mod covers a set of blocks whose crafting can be reversed: a dripstone block, pointed dripstone, honeycomb block, purpur block, snow block and quartz blocks break back into the items they were built from. Materials such as nether bricks, glowstone dust, clay balls, prismarine shards and popped chorus fruit are included in the same conversion. The reversal is meant to be balanced, so a block returns the ingredients it took rather than more.
Only the server needs the mod for the conversions to work, and a player may add it on their side without needing it to join. Cut to the Chase runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is also available as a data pack for server platforms. Files cover 1.20 and 1.20.1, with 1.0+mod for 1.20.1 the latest build for every loader, published 2025-05-27. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
Key features
Reversible block crafting
Blocks such as dripstone, honeycomb, purpur and snow blocks can be broken back into their component items.
Raw material conversion
Nether bricks, glowstone dust, clay balls and prismarine shards come back from the blocks they make up.
Balanced returns
Each conversion returns a set of ingredients matched to the block, instead of an unlimited stack of items.
Data pack option
The same behavior is offered as a data pack for servers that do not run a supported loader.
