Campfire Cracking
by Lumegrin
Campfire Cracking lets a campfire process stone-like blocks, turning cobblestone into gravel and cracking or unchiseling blocks when placed beside it.
What it does
Campfire Cracking adds campfire recipes that change stone-like blocks: cobblestone can be broken down into gravel, stone can be unpolished, and bricks can be cracked. Cobblestone can also become deepslate, and sandstone can be unchiseled. Each conversion happens when the block is set over a lit campfire, so the campfire itself is the processing station.
Unpolish roughen stones is listed as working with full blocks, stairs and slabs, so the conversions cover those shapes as well as plain blocks. The mod is server required and client optional: the server must run it for the conversions to work, while players may join without installing it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, all for 1.20.1, and the mod is released under All rights reserved, so it is not open source.
Key features
Campfire unpolishing
Polished and smooth stone-like blocks can be roughened again over a campfire, giving a path back from finished blocks.
Gravel from cobblestone
Cobblestone can be broken down into gravel by placing it over a lit campfire.
Brick cracking
Brick blocks can be cracked into a worn variant by the same campfire process.
Deepslate and sandstone conversions
Cobblestone can be turned into deepslate, and sandstone can be unchiseled through campfire conversions.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Survival and building players on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge or Quilt who want campfire-based stone conversions. Server owners install it on the server, and players do not need it on their own client.
How it compares
Nice Campfires is also open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later, with files for 1.21.4 – 1.21.5, so it targets a newer range than Campfire Cracking. It works on either side, and neither side needs it for the other to run. Better Stoneworking is published under the Creative Commons Attribution Non Commercial Share Alike 4.0 license for 1.20 – 26.3, and the server alone is enough to run it, with clients left optional. Brick Features is a Forge-only mod for 1.20.1, licensed All rights reserved, and it has to run on both the client and the server.
