by Lumegrin

Lume's Sensible Stonecutter changes how the stonecutter handles stone, adding 138 new cutting recipes and altering 18 vanilla recipes for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt.

What it does

Stonecutting gets a wider set of stone recipes. Cobbled Deepslate and Smooth Basalt join the cutting options, and recipes that used only cobblestone now also accept stone tool materials. The mod adds 116 recipes in total and changes 18 vanilla ones, including the Brewing Stand.

Stonecutter outputs for cobblestone and sandstone are reverted to their regular forms, and natural deepslate blocks cut into stairs, slabs and walls the same way crafted ones do. Only the server needs the mod to run, and players may leave it out. Installation on Fabric also needs Fabric API. The author recommends installing Campfire Cracking alongside it.

Files target 1.20 – 1.20.4, with 1.1+mod for 1.20.4 as the latest build. All rights reserved applies, so the code is not open source.

Key features

  1. Expanded stonecutting recipes

138 new cutting recipes cover more stone types, so stonecutters offer many more outputs than in vanilla.

  2. Stone tool materials in recipes

Recipes that previously required cobblestone also accept stone tool materials as ingredients.

  3. Deepslate and basalt options

Cobbled Deepslate and Smooth Basalt are added to the cutting options alongside the existing stone blocks.

  4. Reverted sandstone and cobblestone outputs

Cut or smooth cobblestone and sandstone return to their regular vanilla forms.
