Cobweb
by Crystal Nest
With Cobweb, a multi-loader project can write its configuration and registration code once, while the loader differences stay inside the API.
What it does
Cobweb is an API for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mods. Its Unified Configuration System lets a developer write configs once and load them on every supported loader. Its Unified Registering System hides the loader-specific registration calls behind one interface, and a simple lookup returns in-game IDs for blocks, items and other registry entries. The code sits in the common module, so projects that target several loaders can share it.
Cobweb can also create and register resource packs at runtime, which is marked experimental, and register built-in static resource packs. A Dynamic Block Entity supports sets of blocks that change while the game runs. The mod requires Fabric API on Fabric. Forge Config API Port is an optional dependency for the Forge side. Cobweb runs on client and server, so both the server and every player need it, and it is released under a custom license that is not open source. Public source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from the project.
Key features
Unified configuration
Configuration files are defined once in the common module and read on each supported loader.
Unified registration
Registration calls are abstracted so one code path serves every loader that Cobweb supports.
In-game ID lookup
A simple API returns the in-game identifiers of registered content for use in other code.
Resource pack creation
Dynamic resource packs can be created and registered at runtime, an experimental feature, and static built-in packs can also be registered.
Dynamic block entity
A block entity type supports mutable sets of blocks for content that changes during play.

Use cases
Multi-loader projects
Developers who ship one mod to Fabric, Forge and NeoForge can use Cobweb as the shared base for configuration and registration.
Library dependency
Other mods can declare Cobweb as a dependency to reuse its systems instead of writing their own.
Who it’s for: Mod developers who target more than one loader and want shared configuration and registration code.
How it compares
Almost Unified is a Fabric, Forge and NeoForge mod for 1.18.2 – 1.21.1 that is not open source and is server required with an optional client. Registry Library is an open source Fabric mod for 1.19.2 – 1.20.2 under the MIT License, also server required with an optional client. Craft Config Lib is an open source MIT-licensed library for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.20.1 – 26.3 that is client-side only, so it does not need to be installed on servers.

It provides a Unified Configuration System and a Unified Registering System, both available directly in the common module. These systems help you abstract away the differences between loaders, so you can focus…
