Prometheus
by Crystal Nest
Prometheus is a Fabric and NeoForge library that gives modders one API for registering custom fire types with consistent behavior.
What it does
Modders and datapack creators can add their own fire types through the Prometheus API, or implement fire from another mod, and the registered fire then receives the shared overlay, damage, properties, mechanics and effect handling without extra code. Custom enchantments tied to these fires are handled automatically as well. The library is the base that Soul Fire'd and Copper Fire build on, and other mods can connect to it in the same way.
Prometheus requires Cobweb and Fabric API. Installation covers the server and each player's game. Files are published for 1.21 – 26.2 across 11 release versions, with 1.2.5 for 26.2 as the latest file on both Fabric and NeoForge. The code is under a custom license, and the project is not open source. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from the project page.
Key features
Custom fire overlay
Registered fire types can define their own overlay, so each fire looks distinct on screen.
Custom fire damage and effects
Each fire type can set its own damage and status effect, applied the same way across mods.
Custom fire properties and mechanics
Fire types carry configurable properties and mechanics that other fires and mods can read.
Custom enchantments
Custom Fire Aspect and Custom Flame enchantments work with the registered fire types.

Use cases
Adding a fire type
A mod author registers a new fire with the API and gets the overlay, damage and mechanics without writing them.
Datapack fire
A datapack creator adds a fire type through the datapack integration documented in the wiki.
Who it’s for: Mod authors who add fire to their game and datapack creators who want fire types that behave consistently with other mods.
How it compares
Dyed Flames is open source under the Mozilla Public License 2.0, runs on client and server, and is published for Fabric and NeoForge across 1.21.1 – 26.3. NoFireOnFire is an open source Fabric mod under the MIT License for 1.21.7 – 1.21.11 and is client-side only. Prometheus is a library for fire types, not a visual replacement for fire.
