Better Gateways

by Patrolin

Better Gateways reworks the gateway encounters of Gateways to Eternity, adjusting timeouts, wave modifiers and the spawning of several gateway types.

NeoForgeClient and serverMIT LicenseOpen source1.21.1 – 26.1.2

What it does

The mod changes how gateway waves play out. Wave timeouts are longer, extended from 50 seconds to 5 minutes, and the attribute bonuses such as higher health or armor are removed from wave modifiers. Gateways also keep their mobs after a failed run, and the gateway interface sits above the block's Champions screen. Basic gateways are reworked, and the Slime, Enderman and Blaze gateways get their own spawning rules. Spider and Skeleton gateways are added.

Better Gateways needs Gateways to Eternity to run, and it works alongside Champions. It is published for NeoForge only, for the 1.21.1 and 26.1.2 game versions, with 1.1.1 for 26.1.2 as the latest file. Both the server and every player need the mod, since it runs on client and server. The code is open source under the MIT License.

Key features

  1. Longer gateway timeouts

Each wave gives the player more time, raised from 50 seconds to 5 minutes.

  2. Plain wave modifiers

Wave modifiers no longer add attribute bonuses such as increased health or armor to mobs.

  3. Gateways that keep mobs

Mobs from a failed gateway stay in place instead of disappearing when the run ends.

  4. New spider and skeleton gateways

Spider and Skeleton gateways are added, with their own wave settings.

Tuning a server's gateways

Server owners can adjust gateway timeouts and wave modifiers on a modded world.

Who it’s for: Players of Gateways to Eternity who want longer timers and gentler wave modifiers, and server owners who host gateway content on NeoForge.
