Lite FPS
by Patrolin
Lite FPS is a client-side optimization mod that adds a frame rate limiter with frame pacing, for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
What it does
Lite FPS changes how the game caps its frame rate. Instead of letting the frame rate drift 5 to 20 FPS below the chosen target, it paces frames so the target is reached more closely, and the limit set in the video menu is respected. The mod also drops the time spent rendering frames that will never be shown, which removes a source of wasted work when the limit is active.
The mod targets the cases where the vanilla limiter is unreliable. Some builds of Minecraft with a slower renderer need a lower limit to stay steady, and the mod gives the player a Max Framerate option that can be left unlimited when the vanilla limiter is broken. A Legacy Flip Windows option is included for hardware and drivers that behave differently. The author recommends using Lite FPS together with Ixeris, and the recommended settings are listed on the project page.
Installation is client-side only, so only the player's game needs the mod and servers can run without it. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 41 release versions, 1.14.4 – 26.3, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Frame pacing
Frames are paced so the frame rate settles at the target chosen in the menu, rather than dropping below it.
Max Framerate option
A setting lifts the cap entirely for players who want the frame rate uncapped.
Legacy Flip Windows
An option switches the window presentation method for systems where the default behaves poorly.
Skipped hidden frames
Rendering work for frames that will not be shown is avoided while a limit is active.

How it compares
FPS-Sync (FPS Limiter) is a Fabric-only, client-side mod for 1.20.1 – 26.3, released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, so it does not reach the older versions Lite FPS covers. Cubes Without Borders is client-side, open source under the MIT License, and runs on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.16.5 – 26.2. FramePacer is client-side, covers 1.8.8 – 26.3 on the same loaders, and is not open source.
