Basalt Crusher
by gniftygnome
Basalt Crusher adds a machine that breaks basalt blocks into gravel, and a second machine that turns gravel into sand or coarse dirt.
What it does
The crusher takes basalt blocks and returns gravel, using consumable jaw liners as the wear item. A jaw liner is made from iron, and one liner can crush about 250 basalt blocks, so each liner costs roughly 31 iron ingots. Players who need a steady gravel supply for an iron farm or other builds can run the crusher in quantity, and game options can raise its output somewhat.
A Gravel Mill sits below the crusher and turns gravel into sand or coarse dirt. It runs on mill rods, called Mill Rod Charges, which are consumed as it works. Coarse dirt can also be fed back into the mill to sift gravel, which makes the two machines work as a loop. Both blocks are built to fit a plain look, and the mod is published for Fabric and Quilt. It is open source under the MIT License and runs on client and server. Ductwork and Terrestria are optional dependencies.
Key features
Basalt to gravel
The crusher converts basalt blocks into gravel, one block at a time, through a jaw liner that wears down.
Gravel to sand and dirt
Gravel placed beneath the crusher is turned into sand or coarse dirt, depending on what the mill is fed.
Mill rod charges
The Gravel Mill runs on consumable mill rods that are crafted from iron and used up as it crushes gravel.
Minimalist styling
The blocks are styled to sit alongside plain, restrained blocks, using muted colours and simple shapes.

What the author says
The Basalt Crusher does just one thing. You feed it consumable jaw liners and any kind of basalt and it gives you back sweet, sweet gravel. Its friend the Grizzly does what a grizzly does: it sorts out bigger stuff from smaller stuff. Placed beneath the Basalt crusher, it will turn 1/4 of your gravel into sand. Fed…
