Ad Astra
by Terrarium
Ad Astra brings space travel to Minecraft, with rockets, planets to visit and the machines needed to survive there, on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge.
What it does
The mod spans two solar systems, each with its own surfaces and conditions, so players gather different resources and build different bases depending on where they land. Rocket travel between destinations is the central mechanic, supported by a rover for crossing rough ground between landing sites and bases.
Progression runs through technology. Standard processing machines and generators sit alongside oxygen generation and distribution, fuel refining and four rocket tiers. An in-game guidebook explains the steps, so players can follow the chain from first launch to running a self-sustaining base. Ad Astra requires Botarium, Common Storage Lib, Fabric API, Resourceful Config and Resourceful Lib, and Athena, Odyssey Allies and Odyssey Claims are optional. Client and server both need the mod, and its files target 1.18.2 – 1.21.1 with the custom license in place.

Use cases
Interplanetary travel
Players build rockets, refuel them and visit each destination in turn, returning with resources collected on the surface.
Self-sustaining bases
Oxygen generation, power and fuel refining let a player keep a base running on a remote body without returning to Earth.
Who it’s for: Players who want a long technology progression with space travel, and server owners who run multiplayer worlds that include planetary exploration.
How it compares
Beyond Earth is a Forge-only mod for 1.18.2 – 1.20.1 under a custom license that is not open source, and it also requires both sides. Gregicality Rocketry is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, covers Fabric, Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, and is built around GregTech machines. Creating Space is open source under the MIT License and runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.19.2 – 1.21.1, while Mars Renaissance targets NeoForge only for 1.21.1 under All rights reserved.
