Resourceful Config is a Library for developers who need one configuration setup across several mod loaders.

What it does

Authors use Resourceful Config to define settings once and have them work on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. On Forge the mod hands its settings to the official Forge config system, which allows hot reloading. On Fabric it writes settings as JSONC, since that loader has no built-in system. From 1.20 onward, the Forge path no longer relies on the official Forge system, because that system was prone to breaking. Resourceful Config is open source under the MIT License and is required by 51 other mods, including Creeper Overhaul and Ad Astra.

  1. Shared definitions

    A configuration is defined once in the mod, and the same settings are read on every supported loader.

  2. Live reloading on Forge

    Changed values can be reloaded while the game runs, because settings pass through the official Forge config system.

  3. JSONC storage

    Settings are written to JSONC files, a readable format with comments, which the mod uses for its Fabric side.
