Animal Husbandry
by Athlantes
Animal Husbandry adds a care system for farm animals, covering genetics, happiness, sickness, grooming and breeding traits for players who keep livestock.
What it does
Animals that players domesticate gain happiness when cared for and can fall sick when neglected. Hunger, dehydration and grooming needs are tracked over time, so farm animals respond to management choices instead of staying decorative. Feeding troughs stock food and water for ranches, and pigs can hunt truffles on suitable ground, which turns grass into dirt or coarse dirt.
Breeding passes on genetics, including color, pattern, yield, fertility and growth. Each animal can also carry personality traits such as glutton, cuddly, grumpy or energetic, and species-specific bonuses like improved yield or faster growth. Modpack creators can tune how punishing or forgiving the care system feels through a configuration file. The mod requires Architectury API and runs on Fabric and NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1, on both client and server. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.
