AFK Wave
AFK Wave makes a player's character wave its arm after a set idle time, so other players can see the player has stepped away.
What it does
When the player stops giving input, the mod tracks the character's position, its facing, and the state of the mouse. Once the idle time passes a configurable threshold, a small badge with a running timer appears in the top-left corner, and the character starts a periodic vanilla swing animation that other players see in third-person view. The badge pulses gently so it stands out, and it hides with the rest of the HUD when F1 is used.
Any movement, mouse-look or click resets the idle timer to zero and stops the waving. The mod can be toggled on and off, and a short message in the action bar reports the new state. The setting is kept across restarts. AFK Wave requires Fabric API and is published for Fabric only, across four game versions, 1.21.8 – 1.21.11, under the MIT License. The mod is client-side only, so servers need nothing installed to show the wave to other players.
Key features
Idle detection
Input from movement, mouse-look and mouse buttons is tracked, and any input clears the idle state.
AFK badge with timer
A badge in the top-left corner shows how long the player has been away, formatted as minutes and seconds.
Waving animation
The character repeats the vanilla swing animation, so other players see a waving hand instead of a frozen character.
Toggle and persistence
The wave can be switched on or off in the settings, and the chosen state is kept between game launches.

Use cases
Stepping away on a server
A player leaves the keyboard during a long server session, and nearby players can tell at a glance that nobody is controlling the character.
Who it’s for: Players who often leave the game running while away from the screen, and players who want others to see that they have stepped away instead of standing frozen.

What the author says
AFK Wave turns "did they leave or are they just standing there?" into something you can actually see. When you stop providing any input - no movement, no mouse-look, no clicks - for a configurable amount of time, AFK Wave marks you as away: a small AFK badge with an idle timer shows up in the top-left corner, and…
