Accents
by Obscuria
Players who want to style a character with hats, accessories and back-mounted items can use Accents, a Client and server mod that adds dyeable pieces with small situational bonuses.
What it does
Accents focuses on visual expression. Its hats, accessories and back-mounted items are meant to complement a character without replacing armor or equipment. Each piece can be dyed, but only in the areas the item defines: a Top Hat takes a full recolor, while a Pirate Hat only lets the feather change color. Each accent also grants a small bonus that applies while it is worn, such as +5% damage from a sword worn on the back, and the bonuses are set so they do not overshadow core progression.
Both sides need the mod, so the server and every player install it. Accents requires Fragmentum and Geckolib. It is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with builds for 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.11, and the license is custom and not open source. Curios API and Trinkets are optional; when either is present, certain accents become trinkets with dedicated slots, and without them every item still works.
Key features
Dyeable accents
Each hat and accessory has its own colorable areas, so designs stay readable while still allowing customization.
Situational bonuses
Worn accents grant small effects, such as a damage increase from a blade worn on the back.
Trinket slots
With Curios API or Trinkets installed, certain accents move into dedicated trinket slots.
Config file
A config file adjusts every bonus, allowing values to be tuned, modpacks to be rebalanced, or individual effects to be turned off while the cosmetics remain.

Use cases
Character styling
Players who roleplay or build a distinctive look can combine dyed hats, accessories and back items.
Modpack balancing
Modpack makers can change or disable individual bonuses through the config file while keeping the cosmetic items.
Who it’s for: Players who want cosmetic customization with light gameplay effects, and modpack authors who need to tune those effects.
How it compares
Dyeable Tools is under the MIT License, for 1.21.2 – 1.21.3 across Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is not open source; it works on a server alone, and players may add it for extra looks. MGN's Witch Hat is a Client and server mod under a custom license for 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge only. Accents covers 1.20.1, 1.21.1 and 1.21.11 on all four loaders, but its license is custom and not open source.
