Accelerated Decay
by ErrorMikey
Accelerated Decay removes leaves soon after their supporting logs are cut, instead of ticking each leaf block faster.
What it does
Rather than running leaf blocks through random ticks at a higher rate, the mod removes leaves as soon as they are ready to decay. It delays its own check until the game has marked the leaves for removal, so the result follows vanilla behavior. Once the last block supporting a set of leaves is gone, the mod searches for leaves carrying the minecraft:leaves tag and removes those that are ready.
The mod is aimed at players who want faster leaf removal with less server and client load. Its time-based check and reduced particle and block ticking keep the performance cost low. Any tree built from blocks in the minecraft:logs tag is supported. Architectury API and Fabric API are required dependencies, and Architectury API is already common in many modpacks. The license is the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and the project is open source with public source code and an issue tracker. Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 18 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3.
Key features
Faster leaf removal
Leaves are removed once their supporting logs are gone, without rapid random ticking of each leaf block.
Tag-based tree support
Any tree whose logs use the minecraft:logs tag is handled, so modded and vanilla trees both decay.
Reduced ticking overhead
A time-based check and fewer particles and block ticks keep the mod's effect on performance small.
No complicated settings
The mod has no detailed configuration; it is either active or it is not.

Use cases
Clearing forests quickly
Players who harvest large wooded areas see the canopy disappear soon after the trunks are cut.
Lag-sensitive servers
Server owners who want faster leaf removal without heavier tick work can use a lighter approach than rapid ticking.
Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want faster leaf decay with a small performance cost. Players who need fine-grained decay settings will not find them here.

What the author says
Accelerated Decay is an alternative fast leaf decay concept where instead of actually ticking the leaf blocks rapidly, we just remove them as soon as possible. Our mod implements this logic in the most vanilla possible way by delaying our leave checking logic to allow the game to naturally mark the leaves ready for…
