Wither Spawn Animation
by bo_bo
With Wither Spawn Animation installed, a Wither altar plays a spawn sequence before the boss appears, so the fight feels like it is about to begin.
What it does
The mod adds an animation that plays after a Wither altar has been built. The author's aim is to replace the immediate appearance of the Wither with a build-up, so players sense that a boss battle is coming. A gamerule named witherSpawnAnimation switches the sequence off with the command /gamerule witherSpawnAnimation false, although altars built before the change keep their behavior.
Geckolib is required, and the mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across the game versions 1.20.1 – 26.3. It is client and server, so the server and every player need it. The code is not open source; the mod is licensed as All rights reserved. Files exist for 1.20.1, 1.20.4, 1.20.6, 1.21.1, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.2 and 26.3, with 1.6.2 as the latest build on each loader.
Key features
Spawn sequence for altars
A Wither built on an altar is preceded by an animation, instead of appearing at once.
Gamerule toggle
The witherSpawnAnimation gamerule turns the sequence off for new altars when set to false.
Boss build-up effect
The sequence gives the Wither summoning a visible lead-in, so the boss arrival is announced rather than sudden.

Use cases
Boss build-up on a server
Server owners who want Wither fights to start with a visible sequence can keep the animation on for every altar.
Story-driven maps
Adventure maps that use Withers as set pieces can rely on the animation to mark the moment the boss is summoned.
Who it’s for: Server owners and players who want Wither altars to build tension before the boss appears. The mod suits survival and adventure worlds, and it is most useful where the altar is a deliberate event.
How it compares
Naturally Spawning Withers is a server-side only mod for Forge and NeoForge, released under All rights reserved and published for 1.20.1 – 1.21.5. No Wither is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, covering Fabric and Quilt for 1.19.3 – 1.21.5. Wither Spawn Animation differs by being client and server, and by adding a spawn sequence rather than changing whether Withers spawn at all.

What the author says
This mod adds an animation after a Wither altar has been built, to make players feel more involved in the game and actually feel that a Boss Battle is about to come, instead of the boring, usual, immediate spawn of the Wither, that makes it feel useless.
