Weather Storms & Tornadoes
by Corosus
Weather Storms & Tornadoes brings localized storms, tornadoes, wind and rain clouds into Forge and NeoForge worlds, with particle-based weather and a few blocks for watching it.
What it does
Storms build from a stormfront system that uses temperature differences between biomes, and tornadoes can spawn from those storm systems. Rain forms over water and moist biomes and falls only in the area beneath it. Snowstorms and sandstorms are included, and the mod replaces or supplements vanilla clouds with particle clouds that keep drifting. Rain and snowfall are drawn as particles that blow in the wind.
The mod suits survival worlds and multiplayer servers where weather changes the landscape. Its CoroUtil dependency is required, so it must be installed with it. Storms are not limited to one side of a server: the mod is client and server, so the server and every player need it. It is released under All rights reserved and is not open source. Files exist for Forge and NeoForge across three release versions, 1.20.1, 1.21 and 1.21.1, with the latest Forge file for 1.20.1 and the latest NeoForge file for 1.21.1.
Key features
Tornadoes from storm systems
Tornadoes spawn from dynamic storm systems that move across the world, not from fixed locations.
Deflector block
A deflector block turns storms away from an area and prevents block damage, protecting builds.
Wind Vane and Anemometer
A Wind Vane shows the direction of the wind, and an Anemometer shows its speed.
Tornado sensor
A tornado sensor block sends a redstone signal when a tornado is near, for automated setups.
Enhanced scenes
Falling leaves, wind particles and other plant particles appear in scenes, and trees make a blowing wind sound.
Optional snowfall buildup
Snowfall can build up more gradually and smoothly. This setting is off by default because it uses a lot of memory.

Use cases
Weather-driven survival
Players can build shelters or farms with the deflector block in areas where storms are expected.
Redstone storm alarms
The tornado sensor can trigger alarms or doors when a tornado approaches a base.
Who it’s for: Players who want weather that changes the landscape, and server owners who want localized storms on Forge or NeoForge. Players need CoroUtil alongside the mod.
How it compares
Weather Flux is NeoForge only, for 1.21.1, and is closed source under All rights reserved. Tornado7 is also client and server and All rights reserved in this catalog, but it is listed under the MIT License and runs on Forge and NeoForge for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1. Fancy Weather is open source under the MIT License and loads on Fabric, NeoForge and Quilt, not Forge.
