WaveMotes
by TVTvirus
WaveMotes lets players type emote names into the chat box and pick from a popup that works like the command suggestions.
What it does
Typing a keyword opens a popup that filters emotes as the letters come in, so a player can narrow a long list to a few matches. A match is chosen with the mouse, the Tab key or Enter, and the chosen emote is sent as a message. The popup behaves the same way as the command suggestions that Minecraft already shows, so no separate syntax has to be learned. The chat popup can be opened from a key bound through the wm keybind.
Emote textures are built into the jar, so they render on the client even when the server does not send them. Emotes can be scaled up to make small text easier to read, and an in-game config screen controls options through On/Off switches styled after Tweakeroo. Optional Discord emojis can be shown as well. The mod renders everything client-side and is a client-side only mod that needs Fabric API. For other players to see the custom emotes, the server needs a separate setup with a resource pack and a server-side component, and the server-side part is handled in a separate project. Files exist for 1.21 and 1.21.1 on Fabric, and the latest is 2.0.1 for 1.21.1, published on 2026-07-11.

How it compares
Discord Emotes is client-side only and uses an all rights reserved license, with files for 26.1 – 26.1.2, so it targets a much newer game version range than WaveMotes. Emoji is client-side only, open source under the MIT License and published for 1.21.4, which sets it apart from WaveMotes on version and license. Blockgame Emotes is client-side only under the MIT License and covers 1.20.2 – 1.21.5, a wider range that includes 1.21 and 1.21.1.
