Waffles Placeable Foods
Waffles Placeable Foods lets players set down and eat a set of about twenty new foods, several of them placed crouching and eaten like cake.
What it does
Most of the new foods can be placed on the ground and consumed in stages, as vanilla cake is. Placement follows the direction of the crouching player, and it still works when the food is upside down. Foods eaten in hand are placed like cake, so the same item serves both purposes. A few of the foods apply status effects when eaten, which gives them a role beyond filling hunger.
The crafting recipes and hunger values were balanced against vanilla food. Players who want to find the recipes can use a recipe viewer such as Enough Items, which the author recommends. The mod needs Fabric API on Fabric, Forgified Fabric API and Sinytra Connector to run on Fabric-based loaders, and it requires no other dependencies on Forge or NeoForge. Because the environment is client and server, the server and every player need it.
Files are published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge. Builds cover 1.19.2 – 1.21.4 across eight release versions, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge files target 1.21.1. The mod is released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license and is not open source.
Key features
Placeable crouching foods
Some foods are placed on the ground while the player is crouching, with the orientation following the player's facing.
Cake-style consumption
Most stages of the placed foods are eaten one bite at a time, similar to how vanilla cake is consumed.
Foods with status effects
A subset of the new foods gives status effects when eaten, adding effects beyond hunger restoration.
Balanced recipes and hunger
Crafting recipes and hunger values were tuned against vanilla food so the new items fit into existing progression.
