ViaAlert is a server-side Fabric utility that broadcasts alerts to admins about the client brands and information players send, as an addon to ViaVersion.
What it does
ViaAlert works alongside ViaVersion and ViaFabric, and watches the data clients send when they connect. When a client reports its brand or other details, administrators with the right permission receive an alert in chat, so unusual or unexpected client types become visible without checking logs by hand. The addon is a Launch Server feature in the author's description, and it needs to run on the server.
Fabric API, ViaFabric and ViaVersion are all required and must be installed alongside ViaAlert. LuckPerms is optional and can be used to control which staff members receive the alerts. Server owners install it, and players connect with no copy of their own. Files are published for Fabric only, for game version 26.2, with 1.0.0 as the latest file, released on 2026-06-20. The mod is published under All rights reserved and is not open source. An issue tracker is available for reporting problems.

How it compares
ViaRewind is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later and covers game versions 1.7.10 – 26.3. It works on either side of a connection, and neither side needs it, so it targets older clients rather than alerting admins. ViaBackwards is also open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, for 1.10 – 26.3, and works on either side with neither side required. ViaBackwards changes protocol compatibility, while ViaAlert only sends alerts.
