Vanity Plates
Vanity Plates lets server staff define personal name prefixes that players choose and display in chat, with access controlled through LuckPerms.
What it does
Prefixes are declared in a configuration file, and each one is granted to a user by assigning a permission node through LuckPerms. A player who holds the node can set a personal prefix in-game with a simple command, and the chosen prefix then appears alongside their name. Because the mod is server-side only, players join with no installation of their own.
The mod depends on Fabric API and Forge Config API Port on Fabric, with GooeyLibs, LuckPerms, Matthiesen Core and fabric-permissions-api also required. Files are available for Fabric and NeoForge, both for 1.21.1, and the license is MIT, so the source is open and public. Usage statistics are collected anonymously through FastStats to help the developer understand how the mod is used. Details about that data can be read on the FastStats site, and the data collected by the mod is visible there as well.
Key features
Configurable prefixes
Server owners define the list of user-assignable prefixes in a configuration file, one entry per title.
Permission-based assignment
Each prefix is tied to a permission node that LuckPerms grants to specific users or groups.
In-game self-service
Players with the right node set their own prefix with a short command, so staff do not edit files for each change.
Anonymous usage statistics
The mod reports anonymous usage data through FastStats to help the developer improve it over time.

Use cases
Who it’s for: The mod suits server owners and administrators who already run LuckPerms and want players to pick a visible prefix without editing permission files by hand. It is not needed on the client.
How it compares
Vanity Plates is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, with files for 1.21.1 on Fabric and NeoForge. LuckPerms Chat is also server-side only and MIT licensed, but it is a NeoForge mod for 1.21.1 – 1.21.6 and covers chat formatting rather than user-assigned prefixes. Vanity: Statue Decoration is a mod under All rights reserved, for 1.21 – 1.21.1, and it adds decorative statues instead of prefixes.

What the author says
A simple Server-side mod for "vanity" prefixes that users can assign via a friendly and easy to use in-game GUI. Simply configure your user-assignable prefixes in the configuration file, and assign your users the permission node via LuckPerms, and the user can now Set that as a personal prefix.
