Unified API

by Rebel459

Unified API is a data-focused library for Fabric and NeoForge that lets one codebase register content for both loaders, with blocks, items and entities declared in JSON or code.

FabricNeoForgeClient or server, optionalGNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.21.11 – 26.3

What it does

The library provides a multiloader modding API that handles the registration of blocks, items, entities, creative tabs and sound events from one place. Content can be declared in JSON, and the matching code is generated, so the same definition works on both loaders. Behaviour that is normally written by hand for each loader is supplied by the library, and generated JSON can be overridden by other projects that need full control.

Beyond registration, the library adds tools for changing vanilla data: biome attributes and features, default components, loot tables and individual entries can be modified. Mob variants and events are supported through both code-driven listeners and data-driven hooks. Common content such as wood sets, brick sets, colored sets and equipment sets can be generated instead of written out by hand. Unified API requires Fabric API on Fabric. On NeoForge it runs on its own, and it is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only.

Key features

  1. Cross-loader registration

Blocks, items, entities, creative tabs and sound events are registered once and work on both Fabric and NeoForge.

  2. JSON-driven content

Content is defined in JSON, and the matching code is generated automatically, which cuts out much of the manual setup.

  3. Vanilla data changes

Biome attributes, default components, loot tables and individual entries can be modified without editing vanilla files.

  4. Generated common content

Wood sets, brick sets, colored sets and equipment sets are produced from a short definition instead of being built one item at a time.
