Reimagined Trims

by Rebel459

Armor trim duplication recipes for smithing templates are reworked by Reimagined Trims, so each trim has its own early-game recipe.

FabricForgeNeoForgeServer required, client optionalAll rights reserved1.20 – 26.2

What it does

Reimagined Trims reworks the trim system that arrived with 1.20, along with any trims added afterward. Every smithing template gets a duplication recipe that highlights what that trim represents and makes trims practical before the late game. The netherite upgrade duplication recipe is left as it is.

Duplication recipes are listed in the Image Gallery, which also shows where each trim can be found. A recipe viewer such as JEI, or the vanilla recipe book, can display them in game. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and also as a data pack.

The server must run it, while players may add it or leave it out, since either side works without the other. Files target 1.20 – 26.2, and the latest Fabric and NeoForge builds are for 26.2, dated 2026-02-10. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source.

Key features

  1. Duplication recipe per template

Each smithing template receives its own duplication recipe, so no trim depends on a single shared method.

  2. Early-game trims

The recipes make armor trims reachable earlier, instead of only after finding rare materials late in progression.

  3. Vanilla-consistent balance

Recipes follow the existing vanilla style, with the netherite upgrade duplication left unchanged.

  4. Image Gallery reference

A gallery lists every duplication recipe and the location of each trim, for players who prefer not to search.

Use cases

Early armor trimming

Players who want trimmed armor before reaching the end of the game can craft trim templates through the new recipes.

Server progression

Server owners can add the mod to a server so trims are available sooner, while players join without installing it.

Who it’s for: Players and server owners who want armor trims to be craftable earlier, and who prefer the duplication recipes to follow vanilla conventions.

Questions

Does Reimagined Trims need to be installed on the client?

No. The server must run it, while players may join without it, since either side works without the other.

Which loaders can run Reimagined Trims?

Fabric, Forge and NeoForge builds are published, and a data pack version is also available for servers.

Where can the duplication recipes be found?

They are listed in the Image Gallery, and a recipe viewer such as JEI or the vanilla recipe book can also display them.

What the author says

Reimagined Trims overhauls the armor trim system introduced in 1.20 (including any trims added later on) by adding a well-thought, unique and balanced duplication recipe to each and every smithing template recipe, to better showcase each trim's specific achievement and make armor trims viable early-game.
