TrimsEffects

by Lupin

With TrimsEffects, armor trims grant potion effects, so a set of trimmed armor can give its wearer speed, strength, regeneration or other effects.

FabricForgeNeoForgeClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20 – 26.2

What it does

Each armor trim pattern is linked to an effect. Wearing enough pieces of one trim grants its effect at level 1, and wearing the full set raises it to level 2. The default list pairs Spire with Strength, Eye with Regeneration, Snout with Fire Resistance and Vex with Invisibility, and the mod adds further pairings beyond these four.

Every part of this behavior can be changed in the configuration settings. A single trim can give several effects at once, mobs wearing trimmed armor can be kept from receiving effects, and compatibility with other mods can be adjusted. Combining any trim with resin material replaces the trim effect with night vision, which is also configurable. The author reports work toward compatibility with most mods that add trims or related features, and says reports of incompatible mods are handled case by case.

Installation runs on Fabric, Forge and NeoForge, and the environment is client and server, so the server and every player need the mod. Files cover 14 release versions, 1.20 – 26.2. The mod is released under All rights reserved and is not open source, although its source code is publicly available.

Key features

  1. Effects on trimmed armor

Wearing matching trimmed armor grants a potion effect, with the level rising when more pieces of the same trim are worn.

  2. Configurable trim effects

The effect given by each trim can be changed, and a single trim can grant several effects at the same time.

  3. Resin night vision

Combining any trim with resin material swaps the trim effect for night vision, and this swap can be configured.

  4. Effects for mobs

Mobs wearing trimmed armor receive effects by default, and this can be turned off in the settings.

  5. Mod compatibility options

Settings control how trims interact with other mods and items, including mods that add new trims.

Server balance settings

Server owners can decide whether mobs receive trim effects and which effects each trim gives.

Who it’s for: Players who want armor trims to matter in combat or exploration, and server owners who want to tune how trims behave for their players.

How it compares

Full comparison

Trim Me 2 is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.21.2 – 26.3 that works on a server alone, and a client can join without it; it is not open source. Armour Trim Abilities is a Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt mod for 1.21 – 26.2 that also needs only the server, and it is open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 or later. TrimsEffects needs both sides, and its loaders and game versions differ from both.
