What it does

Trimmable Tools uses the smithing templates already in the game to put trim patterns on tools. In version 2, each template produces its own set of patterns, giving 18 possible patterns per tool. Combined with the tool types and trim materials, the mod offers 5400 combinations in total. Resource packs that change tool textures also apply to the trimmed items.

The mod is distributed as both a mod and a datapack. Server owners install Datapatched and Fabric API where the loader needs them. Only the server needs the mod; players may add it on the client but do not have to. Files exist for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, with 1.19.4 – 26.2 covered by 20 release versions. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Trim patterns on tools

Smithing templates apply decorative trim patterns to tools, using the trims already present in the game.

  2. Eighteen patterns per tool

Each version 2 template yields a unique set of patterns, so every tool has 18 possible trim designs.

  3. Texture pack support

Resource packs that modify tool textures continue to work with trimmed tools.
