Tectonic
by Apollo
Tectonic reshapes overworld terrain with taller mountain ranges, deeper oceans, larger canyons and a new set of islands between continents.
What it does
Mountain ranges in Tectonic reach very long distances and rise high enough to approach the build limit. Where the terrain is too steep for surface rivers, rivers continue underground and connect back to the surface, so a river can be followed without a break. Ocean floors are deeper than in vanilla, and some deep oceans reach into the deepslate layer with overhangs and valleys. Ocean Monuments generate deeper when the mod is installed.
Smaller islands up to around a thousand blocks across sit between continents and use vanilla mountain shaping, which allows traditional mountain rings to appear. Jungles can have pillars over a hundred blocks tall, badlands can contain very large canyons, and most deserts have smooth rolling dunes. Servers need Tectonic, while players can join without it. Installation depends on Fabric API and Lithostitched. Builds are published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt. Open source under the MIT License, the project has files for 1.18.2 – 26.3, with snapshot builds also published. Biome mods that add their biomes through worldgen hooks are compatible with it.
Key features
Tall mountain ranges
Ranges extend across great distances and can reach close to the build limit in height.

Rivers pass underground through terrain too towering for surface rivers and link back up with them.
Deep oceans
Oceans are deeper than in vanilla, with some extending into the deepslate layer and featuring overhangs.
Islands between continents
Islands up to around a thousand blocks across use mountain shaping and can host calderas and volcanoes when a companion mod is installed.
