Traverse, a Fabric and Quilt world generation mod, expands the overworld with new biomes that are meant to sit alongside the vanilla ones.
What it does
The mod adds biomes to the overworld rather than replacing existing ones, and its stated aim is terrain plain enough to pass as part of the base game. Its biome set includes an autumn-toned woodland, two conifer forests, a dry shrubland, open flatlands, a wetter swamp and a plain woodland.
Fabric API is required, and Biolith is bundled inside the mod, so no separate install is needed for it. Client and server both need the mod, so every player on a server that runs it must also have it. Traverse is released under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only, and its source code is public. Files cover 33 release versions, 1.16.4 – 26.2, and snapshot builds are published as well. The latest Fabric and Quilt files are 9.1.0-beta.1 for 26.2, dated 2026-08-09, on the beta channel.

Polymer Patch Bundle is server-side only, open source under the MIT License, and published for Fabric and Quilt on 1.21.10 – 26.2, so it adds nothing for players to install. Additional Structures is server-side only, not open source, and covers Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt for 1.12 – 1.21.11. Nature's Spirit is a client and server mod with a custom license and files for 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, which differs in both environment and version range.
