Translater

by JFronny

With Translater, Minecraft text passes back and forth through several languages until the result is corrupted, a joke mod in the Cursed category that runs on the client alone.

FabricClient-side onlyMIT LicenseOpen source1.16.5 – 26.3

What it does

Translater takes the text shown in the game and sends it through a chain of machine translations, moving it between languages and back to the target language. The number of round trips defaults to 10 and can be changed in the configuration. Whether random source languages are used decides how far the text drifts, and that choice is what makes most of the output hard to recognize.

The mod has a cache, and the translations it fetches are stored there, so text already processed is not requested again. Progress indicators follow the initial generation while the translations are produced. Because the translation service limits how many requests a client may send, the throttleMillis value in the libjf-translate-v1 config may need to be raised to avoid rate limiting.

Translater is published for Fabric on 35 release versions, 1.16.5 – 26.3, and requires LibJF. Mod Menu is optional and adds a settings screen for the mod. The code is released under the MIT License and is open source.

Key features

  1. Round-trip translation

Text is translated through several languages in sequence, and the count of round trips is set in the config.

  2. Random source languages

The mod can pick random source languages, which makes most of the resulting text unrecognizable.

  3. Automatic language detection

An option attempts automatic detection of the source language instead of using a fixed one.

  4. Translation progress display

Progress indicators show how far the initial generation of translations has come.
