Respackopts

by JFronny

With Respackopts installed, resource packs gain config menus and a system for conditional resources, resource expansion, and fabulous shader integration.

FabricNeoForgeClient or server, optionalMIT LicenseOpen source1.16.4 – 26.3

What it does

Respackopts is a utility that lets resource and data packs expose settings through config menus. Pack authors can make resources conditional, and the mod adds a resource expansion system that packs can use to reach further content. Its shader integration works with Fabulous graphics.

Installation needs LibJF on both loaders. Mod Menu is optional and adds a way to open the config screens from the mod list. Respackopts is open source under the MIT License, is client or server optional, and covers 1.16.4 – 26.3 on Fabric and NeoForge, with the latest files for 26.3.0.

The mod adds measurable overhead. Resource reloading takes about six percent longer than vanilla and game loading about eighteen percent longer, while pack scanning is far slower because parsing is cached in that stage. The resource pack screen is where the slowdown shows, since scanning repeats every 20 ticks and when the screen is resized. The author also published a second mod aimed at speeding up that screen.

Key features

  1. Pack config menus

Resource and data packs can present settings in a menu, so players change options without editing files by hand.

  2. Conditional resources

Resources can be selected by conditions, letting one pack offer several variants that apply under different rules.

  3. Resource expansion

A system extends what packs can load, adding content beyond the base resources the pack provides.

  4. Fabulous shader integration

The mod connects pack features with the Fabulous graphics option, so packs can respond to that setting.

Questions

Does Respackopts need LibJF?

Yes. LibJF is a required dependency and must be installed alongside Respackopts on Fabric and NeoForge.

Can Respackopts run on a server without the client?

Yes. Either the player or the server can install it, and both may leave it out.

Why does the resource pack screen slow down with this mod?

Pack scanning uses cached parsing that takes far longer than vanilla, and it repeats every 20 ticks and on resize, which can cause minor freezes while the screen is open.

Which versions does Respackopts support?

Builds cover 1.16.4 – 26.3, with 36 release versions available on Fabric and NeoForge.
