TradeRoll
by angxxxxl
TradeRoll lets a server operator reroll a villager's trades in place, keeping the villager's profession, from a short command-free interaction.
What it does
A villager within 5 blocks that a player looks straight at can be refreshed with the refresh-trades command, which drops its level back to Novice 1 and generates a new offer list. Each player is held to a 10-second cooldown per player, which prevents repeated use from spamming rerolls.
The mod targets servers that want cleaner villager management without a full economy overhaul. Found villagers with an unwanted profession can be handled the same way, by rerolling their trades. The mod is configured through its config files, and the jar can be dropped into the mods folder without extra setup.
TradeRoll is Fabric-only and needs Fabric API, with no other dependencies. It is server-side only, so players join without installing anything and the client needs nothing. Files cover 32 release versions, 1.16.1 – 26.2, with the latest file for 26.2 published on 2026-07-03, under the MIT License, which is not open source.
Key features
Trade rerolling
A villager's existing offers are removed and a new trade set is generated in one action.
Profession kept
The villager keeps its profession type after a reroll, so only the trades change.
Level reset
The trading level returns to Novice level 1 when trades are rerolled.
Per-player cooldown
A 10-second cooldown for each player limits how often rerolls can be triggered.
Config files
Behavior is adjusted through config files that the server owner edits.

Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners who want to refresh villager trades without replacing villagers or changing their professions. It suits multiplayer worlds where a villager's offers have stopped being useful.
How it compares
Villager Reroll is open source under the MIT License, with Client and server environment and files for 1.21.4 – 1.21.11. LazyTrade is client-side only, not open source, and published under the MIT License for 1.19.4 – 26.2, so it runs on players' clients rather than the server. Fixed Villager Trades is server-side only and open source under the Apache License 2.0, running on Fabric and Quilt for 1.17 – 1.21.1.

What the author says
Look at a villager, run /refreshtrades, and the villager drops back to Novice level with a fresh set of offers — its profession and type stay exactly the same. A 10-second cooldown prevents spam. No config files. No dependencies beyond Fabric API. Drop the jar in your mods/ folder and it just works.
