The Idol (Horror)
by RoLuky
Players who want a persistent stalker in their Forge world can add The Idol, a horror mod that brings in an entity inspired by Father Fester.
What it does
The Idol adds a persistent horror entity that exists on the server and produces effects on the client, so its stalking feels close and immersive. It tracks players over time, observing their distance before closing in, and its behavior is scripted to specific locations that adapt to player movement, which keeps encounters from feeling repetitive. The author states the mod is meant for longer playthroughs rather than a quick scare, and that the entity makes itself known to the player once it appears.
The mod works in singleplayer and multiplayer, and the author recommends multiplayer to get the most out of the horror. Dedicated servers are supported. Geckolib is required, and the mod is published only for Forge on 1.20.1, with version 2.0.1 as the latest file. Because it runs on both client and server, the server and every player need it installed. The code is not open source, and the files are released under All rights reserved.
Key features
Stalking entity
A horror entity inspired by Father Fester follows players over time and closes in once it has observed them.
Scripted encounters
Its behavior is tied to specific locations and adjusts to player movement, so encounters are meant to feel unpredictable.
Adjustable spawn rate
The spawn chance is set in the Idol config, which can be changed with a command to make the entity more or less frequent.
Shared configuration
Settings are saved across worlds, so a modpack can include them, and the host can turn parts of the mod off if needed.
