TeamColors

by ImToggle

TeamColors recolors player hitboxes and nametag backgrounds with the color of each entity's team, configured client-side.

FabricOrnitheClient-side onlyGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.8.9 – 26.3

What it does

The mod changes the background color of hitbox nametags so that each entity takes on the color of its team. It is a utility for Fabric and Ornithe, and only the client needs it, so players can join servers without installing anything. The license is GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and the source code and issue tracker are public.

Installation requires Fabric Language Kotlin and OneConfig alongside TeamColors. Files are published for Fabric and Ornithe across 18 release versions, 1.8.9 – 26.3, with v1.2.1 as the latest build for each loader. The first file appeared on 2026-07-10 and the most recent update is dated 2026-10-12.

Key features

  1. Team-colored hitboxes

Hitbox outlines are tinted with the color of the team each entity belongs to, which makes team membership visible at a glance.

  2. Team-colored nametags

The background of each nametag takes the team color, so players can tell allies from opponents in crowded scenes.

  3. Global saturation and brightness

Saturation and brightness can be adjusted for all team colors at once, instead of editing each team separately.

  4. Individual color overrides

A single team can be given its own color, overriding the automatic choice for that team only.

How it compares

Full comparison

PolyHitbox and PolyNametag are the closest alternatives, both client-side only and for Fabric, Forge and Ornithe across 1.8.9 – 26.3, but they use custom licenses and are not open source. DamageTint is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 only and targets the same loaders and range, but it tints damage feedback rather than team membership.

Files exist for 1.8.9, 1.21 – 1.21.11, and 26.1 – 26.3, with v1.2.1 as the latest build for Fabric and Ornithe.
