TACZ Turrets
by Entropy159
TACZ Turrets adds automated turrets that fire guns, so a player can place one, load it with a gun and ammo, and let it defend an area.
What it does
A turret fires once it holds a gun and ammunition, and it attacks hostile mobs in range. Players place a turret by right-clicking a block, and the bottom of a block lets the turret hang upside down from a ceiling. Right-clicking the turret opens its screen, where a gun goes in the gun slot and ammo goes in the slots below it. Crouching and right-clicking picks the turret up again with its gun and ammo inside. Iron bars repair it when it is damaged.
A turret placed on a chest, barrel or other item storage pulls matching ammo from that storage when its own ammo runs out. The power setting can be set to run continuously, follow a redstone signal in either direction, or stay off, and a status light shows what the turret is currently doing. Turrets never target their owner or the owner's allies, and allies can open and manage the turrets unless the alliesHavePerms option is turned off. Entity tags named tacz turrets:turret and tacz turrets:turret ignored make specific mobs always or never targets.
Key features
Gun and ammo slots
A turret takes a gun in one slot and ammunition in the slots beneath it, then fires with that loadout.
Storage ammo supply
A turret on a chest, barrel or other item storage draws matching ammo from it when its own supply runs out.
Redstone power control
Each turret can run continuously, follow a redstone signal in either direction, or stay off.
Ally and owner rules
Turrets spare their owner and allies, and an option controls whether allies can manage them.
Mob targeting tags
Entity tags decide which mobs turrets always or never target.

Use cases
Base defense
A turret mounted on a storage chest keeps its ammo topped up from the chest while it guards a base.
Who it’s for: Players who run guns in survival or multiplayer worlds and want turrets that hold a gun and ammo. Server owners who set ally rules and redstone control for their players may find the options useful.
