Storage Container Labels

by medicalwhiskey

Storage Container Labels draws floating names above chests, barrels and shulker boxes so players can tell storage apart at a glance.

FabricClient or server, optionalMIT LicenseOpen source26.1 – 26.2

What it does

The mod displays labels above or around named storage containers such as chests, barrels and shulker boxes. Single chests, double chests and the chest variants each get their own labels, and shulker boxes are covered as well. Each container type can be switched on or off separately, so a player can label only the containers they care about.

Rendering is configurable: the distance at which labels appear, their color, size, opacity, vertical offset, fading and visibility can all be adjusted. The config screen opens through Mod Menu, or by running the storage-container-labels config command in chat. The mod needs Cloth Config API and Fabric API, and Mod Menu is optional for the config screen. It is published for Fabric only, on game versions 26.1 – 26.2, under the MIT License, and the source code is open source.

Key features

  1. Labels on named containers

Named chests, barrels and shulker boxes show their name as a floating label in the world.

  2. Per-type toggles

Each storage type can be enabled or disabled, so labels appear only where wanted.

  3. Adjustable rendering

Label range, tint, scale, transparency, height shift, fade behavior and show or hide state can all be tuned.

  4. Config screen and command

Settings open from Mod Menu or through a chat command, so changes can be made without editing files.

Use cases

Sorting a large storage base

Players with many containers can name them and read the labels from a distance to find the right one quickly.

Multiplayer storage hubs

Shared chests on a server can be marked with names, and each player can tune how the labels look on their own screen.

Who it’s for: Players who keep many named containers in survival or creative worlds, and players on servers with shared storage that want the names visible.

Questions

Does Storage Container Labels need Fabric API?

Yes. Fabric API is required along with Cloth Config API, and both must be installed with the mod on Fabric.

Does the server need the mod?

No. The mod works on either side, and neither needs it. Installing it on one side is enough to show labels.

How are the labels configured?

Settings open from the Mod Menu config screen, or by running the storage-container-labels config command in chat.
