Spawn Animations
by Tschipcraft
Spawn Animations gives hostile mobs an entry effect: they emerge from the ground or appear in a puff of smoke when they spawn, and the effect runs on the server.
What it does
Spawn Animations changes how hostile mobs enter the world. Each covered mob gets a spawn effect of its own, and while the effect plays, the hidden entity and its worn armor and tools stay invisible and silent, so the change stays as unobtrusive as possible. The mob list includes the common undead, spiders, creepers, endermen, slimes, magma cubes, striders and giants.
The mod is completely server-side, so server owners install it and players join without any client install. Settings are changed in game with /trigger tschipcraft.menu or /function tschipcraft:menu, which also resets or uninstalls the pack. Installation needs Fabric API on Fabric and Quilted Fabric API or Quilt Standard Libraries on Quilt; MidnightLib, Mod Menu, ModMenu Badges Lib, Pehkui and Spawn Animations Compats are optional. Pehkui adds smoother animations and hides entities with emissive layers on 1.20.4 or below. Spawn Animations is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt across 40 release versions, 1.16 – 26.3, under a custom license that is not open source.
Key features
Animated hostile spawns
Covered mobs rise from the earth or pop into view when they appear, in place of a plain spawn.
Covered mob list
The effect covers 16 hostile mobs, from zombies and skeletons to endermen, slimes and giants.
In-game settings menu
A trigger command and a function open a menu for settings, reset and uninstall, so no config file is needed.
Optional global config
Installing MidnightLib adds a global config file and a user interface for the same settings.

How it compares
Hostile Mobs Improve Over Time is also server required with client optional, under All rights reserved and not open source, and it covers 1.19.4 – 26.3. Bogged Spawn is server-side only with versions 1.21 – 26.3. Stray Spawn is server-side only on 1.16.5 – 26.3. Poof Puuf! is the only option here that runs on the client and server, and it is limited to Fabric for 1.21.11 under the MIT License.
