by stashymane

Sound Categories is a Fabric library that lets other mods register additional sound categories in Minecraft's audio settings menu.

FabricClient-side onlyApache License 2.0Open source1.17 – 1.19

What it does

Other mods can use the library to add their own sound categories, each with its own volume slider in the sound options. The library changes how Minecraft's sound settings are built so that the extra categories appear alongside the vanilla ones. Only the client needs it, and the library is released under the Apache License 2.0 and is open source. Builds cover 1.17 – 1.19 on Fabric, with 1.2.4+1.19 for 1.19 as the latest file from June 2022.

Key features

  1. Extra sound categories

Mods can register sound categories that have their own volume controls in the audio menu.

  2. Settings menu integration

The added categories are placed in the existing sound options screen, so players adjust them in one place.

  3. Library for developers

The library is meant for mod developers. Its source code and issue tracker are public on GitHub for those who want details.

What the author says

Originally created by the great Stashymane, which has sadly been discontinued. Fabric library that allows mods to add more sound categories, and modifies the Minecraft sound settings menu to fit as many categories as required.
