ExtraSounds

by stashymane

With ExtraSounds installed, the game plays extra UI sounds for hotbar scrolling, inventory clicks, item drops and advancements.

FabricClient-side onlyCC0 1.0 UniversalOpen source1.14 – 26.2

What it does

Hotbar scroll sounds, inventory click sounds tied to the item clicked, and a drop sound whose strength depends on how many items are thrown out all come from the same client-side set of effects. A scroll sound on the screen follows the speed of the scrolling, so quick scrolling produces a different result from slow scrolling.

ExtraSounds lets the player set the volume of sound groups by pre-classified category. It is client-side only, so a server does not need it and players can add it without any change on the server. Fabric API is required, and the mod is published for Fabric across 47 release versions, 1.14 – 26.2.

The source code and an issue tracker are public, and the project is open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license. The original version by Stashymane has been discontinued, and version 3 is maintained with the aim of running on any Minecraft version from one JAR file.

Key features

  1. Hotbar scroll sounds

Changing the selected hotbar slot plays a sound, so each step through the hotbar is audible.

  2. Inventory click sounds

Clicking an item in the inventory plays a sound that depends on the item that was clicked.

  3. Item drop sound

Dropping items plays a sound whose strength scales with the number of items dropped.

  4. Screen scroll sound

Scrolling a screen plays a sound that follows the speed of the scroll.

  5. Volume by category

Sounds are grouped into pre-classified categories, and each category has its own volume setting.
