Soft Stepping is an enchantment-focused equipment mod that changes how the Warden and sculk vibrations react to players and their footwear.
What it does
Soft Stepping adds an enchantment that silences several kinds of vibration. Its effect depends on the wearer's actions, such as hitting the ground, equipping armor or shooting a projectile, and the enchantment is only applied to a pair of boots. A projectile's vibration is still detected when it lands, so the silence covers the wearer's movement rather than every sound in the area.
The enchantment can be obtained by venturing into the Ancient City, where it may appear in found chests. Server owners can tune how often the enchantment book turns up in those chests and whether librarians offer it in their trades. Wooled Boots and Warden Walkers are the two forms of the effect the author describes for sneaking through sculk areas.
The enchantment shows its description in tooltips when the Enchantment Descriptions mod is installed alongside it. Some other mods provide similar silencing behavior but execute it differently, and this mod keeps its own rules for when vibrations are suppressed. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and Quilt across six game versions, and it runs on client and server. Installing it needs Fabric API on Fabric and Forge Config API Port on Forge. The license is All rights reserved, so the mod is not open source.

Wearing the enchanted boots suppresses several vibration types that the Warden and sculk sensors would otherwise pick up.
Action-based triggers
The effect responds to hitting the ground, equipping armor and shooting a projectile, with a landing projectile still detected.
Boots-only enchantment
The enchantment is applied to boots alone, so the effect depends on what the player wears on the feet.
Ancient City loot
The enchantment book can be found in Ancient City chests, with its chance of generation set by the config.
Librarian trades
Whether librarians offer trades for the enchantment is controlled by a setting, so the enchantment can be tradeable or not.

Downfall Enchantment is open source under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3.0 or later, for 1.21 – 26.3 on Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and it is server required with client optional. Soft Stepping is not open source.
