Soap
by MaximeriX
Soap is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that lets players clean dyed and colored blocks back to their plain form, using soap items.
What it does
Soap adds soap items that remove color from blocks. Used on a colored block, a red soap turns it back to its uncolored form, so a player can rebuild a surface with the original tones. Players can also eat soap, and the mod lets a player clean blocks with bare hands, without any tool.
The cleaning covers a wide set of block families: copper except waxed types, wool and woolen carpet types, banners, concrete and concrete powder types, mossy blocks, coral and crying obsidian. Recipes appear in the recipe book, and the soap is crafted from a honeycomb and a dye, so the process stays inside the normal crafting flow.
Soap is published for Forge only, for 1.20 and 1.20.1, and the latest file targets 1.20.1. The server and every player need the mod installed. The code is under the MIT License and is not open source, and the author keeps an issue tracker for reports.
Key features
Soap cleaning blocks
Soap items strip color from blocks such as crying obsidian and green concrete powder, returning them to a plain form.
Color-specific soaps
Each dye color has its own soap, so a red soap turns colored blocks back to their base shade on use.
Bare-hand cleaning
Blocks can be cleaned with bare hands, so no separate tool is needed for the simplest cases.
Crafted from a honeycomb and dye
Soap recipes appear in the recipe book and combine a honeycomb with a dye, placing the process in the normal crafting flow.

Use cases
Recoloring builds
A builder can take a colored structure back to plain blocks and repaint it in another shade.
Reusing dyed blocks
Players who gathered many dyed blocks can reset them for new designs without placing new materials.
Who it’s for: Builders and survival players who work with dyed, colored or waxed blocks and want to clean them back to plain forms. Server owners who run it need the mod on every client.
How it compares
Smooth Concrete is a Forge mod for 1.20.1 that runs on client and server, but it is released under All rights reserved and focuses on concrete. Dyeless Concrete Recipes works on Forge for 1.19.4 – 1.20.1 as an optional client or server mod under the MIT License, and changes concrete crafting rather than cleaning. Soap differs from both in covering many block families through cleaning.
