Smooth Concrete
by Minto_tan
Smooth Concrete changes how concrete is made, replacing the powder-and-water step with a dye-based recipe that uses a furnace.
What it does
The mod adds a concrete goo item that is made by mixing a dye with a magical substance and heating the mixture in a furnace. Goo is then turned into smooth concrete blocks, so the process no longer needs concrete powder placed next to water. Default dyes and custom dyes both work in the recipe.
Players can choose custom colors for the concrete output, and the default concrete blocks are changed to look more saturated and less grainy. The mod runs on Forge for 1.20.1 only, and the server and every player need it, since the environment is client and server. Smooth Concrete is not open source and is released under All rights reserved, with its latest Forge file dated 2024-11-08 and listed as a beta build.
Key features
Concrete goo recipe
Concrete goo is produced in a furnace from a dye and a magical substance, replacing the powder-and-water placement.
Custom dye support
Both default dyes and custom dyes can be used, and custom colors are available for the finished concrete.
Adjusted concrete textures
Default concrete blocks are given more saturated colors and a smoother texture than the vanilla versions.
Fewer accidents with powder
Because the goo recipe avoids loose concrete powder, the mod reduces the falling and water-placement mistakes that powder causes.

Use cases

Builders who want many shades of concrete can make goo from custom dyes and place finished blocks without handling loose powder.

Players who already use furnaces for smelting can run the goo recipe there, keeping concrete production in one place.
Who it’s for: Builders, decorators and players who make large amounts of concrete, and server owners who want a concrete process that does not depend on water placement.
