Sn0wfrog's Capybaras

by iuriineves

With Sn0wfrog's Capybaras, players can find capybaras in the world, feed them melon slices, and breed them, with mandarin bushes added as a new food source.

FabricClient and serverAll rights reserved1.20.1 – 1.20.4

What it does

Capybaras are semiaquatic mobs added to the world. They spawn more often near water bodies, and they need water to survive. A capybara can be led with a melon slice and bred, and it follows a player who holds one. In swimming, a capybara is quick and will catch up to a player who grabs a melon slice in front of it.

Mandarin bushes appear in the plains biome, and they produce mandarins. Players can gather saplings from bushes and plant them anywhere else they want, since bushes only spawn naturally in plains. The mod is built for Fabric, and the mod's coconut doggies appear in the world alongside the capybaras. Sn0wfrog's Capybaras needs Fabric API, Geckolib and SmartBrainLib to run, and it is installed on the client and server, so both sides need the mod.

The files target 1.20.1 and 1.20.4, and the latest Fabric build is 1.1.0-mc1.20.4, published 2024-04-03. The code is not open source and is covered by All rights reserved. Public links for the source code and an issue tracker are available.

Key features

  1. Capybara spawning

Capybaras spawn more often near water bodies, matching their semiaquatic habits in the world.

  2. Feeding and breeding

A melon slice leads a capybara and lets players breed them, and capybaras follow a player who holds one.

  3. Fast swimming

Capybaras swim quickly, so a melon slice held in front of one draws it along through water.

  4. Mandarin bushes

Bushes produce mandarins and flowering mandarin leaves, and they spawn only in plains biomes.

  5. Sapling planting

Saplings gathered from mandarin bushes can be planted anywhere, so the fruit is not limited to plains.

Capybara from the [FABRIC] series is open source under the MIT License, for Fabric 1.20 – 1.21.6, on client and server. Nevixity's Mod is for Fabric 1.20.1 only, with All rights reserved and no open source code. Mandarin World is for Fabric 1.21.8 – 1.21.11 and is not open source, so it fits a newer version than this mod supports.
