Shields+
Shields+ adds three new shield tiers with different durability values, and the server must run it while the client may skip it.
What it does
The mod adds three shield tiers that players craft by replacing the iron ingot in the shield recipe with copper, diamond or netherite ingots, each tier with its own durability. Shields that are blocking attacks lose durability quickly in vanilla, and the higher tiers hold up for longer. Shields+ is server required and client optional, so the server must run it, and players who join without it see only the vanilla shields.
Shields+ is published for Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Quilt, and as a data pack, for game versions 1.21.11 – 26.2. Files exist for 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2 and 26.2. It is released under CC0 1.0 Universal and is not open source.
Key features
Copper shield tier
A shield crafted with copper ingots gives a first step up from the iron shield, with more durability before it breaks.
Diamond and netherite tiers
Diamond and netherite ingots take the place of iron in the recipe, producing the two highest durability tiers.
Faster blocking wear
Blocking a hit drains durability faster on a plain shield, which gives the new tiers a reason to be crafted.
