Save State
Save State lets a single-player world keep save points, so a death can send the player back to the last point they chose, much like classic game save systems.
What it does
The mod is Fabric-only and adds a classic game-style save state to a world. Players create a save point, and when they die the game reloads that save instead of simply respawning them, which rewinds time to the moment the point was taken. The mod is client and server, and it requires Fabric API on the same loader.
Save points work only in singleplayer, because the author did not find a sound way to handle save states for several players at once. A savepoint-style design that works in multiplayer is listed as a separate idea. The mod also manipulates and deletes world files, so the author recommends keeping a backup of the world before use, since a mistake could delete or corrupt it.
Files cover 1.21.1, 1.21.9, 1.21.10, 1.21.11, 26.1, 26.1.1, 26.1.2, 26.2 and 26.3, with the latest build 1.0.0+mc26.1 for 26.3 on the alpha channel. The project is open source under the MIT License, and the source code and issue tracker are public.
Key features
Save points on death
A death reloads the saved world state, so the player returns to the moment the save point was made.
Classic save-state style
The save system follows the pattern of older games, where progress is kept as explicit save points.
Respawn handling
Setting a spawn bed or respawn anchor works differently from vanilla, since the save point replaces the usual respawn.
Singleplayer only
Save points are limited to one player because multiplayer save states were not solved by the author.

What the author says
Adds a classic game-style save state. When you set your spawn (at a bed or respawn anchor), a save is created, and when you die, instead of respawning it reloads that save as if time rewound. ⚠️ Warning: The mod deletes and manipulates files. I do not recommend using this on a world you care about, in case something…
