RyoamicLights
With RyoamicLights installed, held light sources and burning creatures cast light in the world as they move, without placing any blocks.
What it does
RyoamicLights is a client-side dynamic lights mod and an unofficial Architectury port. An entity holding an item that emits light, such as a torch, gives off light as a block would, and entities on fire, magma cubes, spectral arrows and blazes also glow.
The mod needs ObsidianUI installed beside it. It is released under the MIT License, and its source code and issue tracker are public. The mod is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 19 release versions, 1.16.4 – 1.21.1, with the latest Fabric and NeoForge files built for 1.21.1 and the latest Forge file for 1.20.1.
Key features
Held item light
Any entity holding an item that emits light gives off light, so a player carrying a torch lights the area around them.
Adjustable smoothness
A setting controls how smoothly the dynamic lighting transitions as light sources move.
Glowing mobs
Magma cubes, blazes and burning entities emit light while they are active in the world.
Light from projectiles
Spectral arrows emit light as they travel, and some modded items also produce dynamic light.

Use cases
Exploring caves
Light moves with the player through dark tunnels and mines, so terrain is visible without placing torches along the way.
Nighttime fights
Blazes, magma cubes and burning mobs light up the area during combat at night or underground.
Who it’s for: Players who want held items and burning creatures to light the world on the client. Only the client needs the mod, so servers do not have to install it.
How it compares
Create: Dynamic Lights is for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 1.19 – 1.21.1 under a Creative Commons Attribution Share Alike 4.0 license, and it is not open source. It works on either side, and neither needs it. Sable Dynamic Lights is a NeoForge build for 1.21.1 under the Apache License 2.0, open source, and it has to be on both the server and every player's client.
