RPG Backpacks

by yigitguven

RPG Backpacks adds wearable backpacks in six tiers, from Leather to Netherite, that hold more items as the player advances.

ForgeNeoForgeClient and serverGNU General Public License v3.0 onlyOpen source1.20.1 – 1.21.1

What it does

Each backpack tier has its own slot count: the Leather Backpack holds 18 slots in 2 rows, the Iron Backpack 27 slots in 3 rows, the Golden Backpack 36 slots in 4 rows, the Diamond Backpack 45 slots in 5 rows, and the Netherite Backpack 54 slots in 6 rows. The Netherite version is also fire resistant, so it survives lava and flames that would damage a lesser pack.

Backpacks are equipped in the chestplate slot, and when Curios API is installed they can go in the Curios back slot instead. Models are detailed 3D meshes worn on the back, so the pack is visible on the player's character. The mod is published for Forge and NeoForge across 7 release versions, 1.20.1 – 1.21.1, and is released under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only; the source code, issue tracker and wiki are public, and the mod is open source. Client and server both need it, and Legendary Backpack builds on it.

Key features

  1. Six backpack tiers

Leather, Iron, Golden, Diamond and Netherite backpacks each add a larger storage grid than the one before.

  2. Chestplate and Curios slots

A backpack can be worn in the chestplate slot, or in the Curios back slot when that API is present.

  3. Detailed 3D models

Each tier is shown on the player as a custom 3D model worn on the back.

  4. Fire-resistant Netherite

The Netherite Backpack is the only tier that is fire resistant, with 54 slots in 6 rows.

Use cases

Carrying supplies while exploring

Players who travel far from home can carry more items without returning to a chest, and the inventory stays organized across tiers.

Who it’s for: Players who want a wearable storage upgrade for long exploration, and server owners who want a visible backpack progression on Forge or NeoForge.

Questions

Does RPG Backpacks need Curios API?

No. Curios API is optional. Without it, backpacks are worn in the chestplate slot only; with it, they can also go in the Curios back slot.

Does RPG Backpacks have to be installed on both sides?

Yes. Servers that run it need every player to install it too.

Which loaders does RPG Backpacks support?

Forge and NeoForge. Files cover 1.20.1, 1.20.2, 1.20.3, 1.20.4, 1.20.5, 1.20.6 and 1.21.1.
