Leather Craft

by yigitguven

Leather Craft lets players cook Rotten Flesh in a furnace to get leather, so zombie drops are no longer thrown away.

What it does

Rotten Flesh can be smelted into leather, a resource that many recipes use. The recipe works in a standard furnace, and the mod offers faster and slower cooking options for players who want to tune the pace. Players who have built up large stocks of zombie drops can convert them without setting up any new machine.

Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Leather Craft is open source under the MIT License and is published for Fabric, Forge and NeoForge across 32 release versions, 1.16.1 – 1.21.11. Source code, an issue tracker and a wiki are linked from the project.

Key features

  1. Rotten Flesh smelting

Rotten Flesh is added as a furnace input that produces leather, so drops from zombies gain a use.

  2. Faster cooking option

A variant recipe cooks Rotten Flesh into leather more quickly than the standard furnace time.

  3. Slower cooking option

A slower variant gives a relaxed pace for players who prefer a longer smelting process.

  4. Source code and releases

The source code is available on GitHub, and builds are provided through GitHub Releases.

Use cases

Turning drops into leather

Players who farm zombies can route Rotten Flesh into the furnace instead of discarding it, turning a common drop into a crafting material.

Who it’s for: Survival players who collect zombie drops and want a use for them, and server owners who want a small utility mod that adds one smelting recipe.
