Recipe Tweaks
by Psikloan
Recipe Tweaks changes a set of vanilla crafting, smelting, stonecutting and brewing recipes on Fabric servers, and the change applies to every player on that server.
What it does
Recipe Tweaks rewrites specific recipes in the game data. Bread and paper can be crafted without a fixed grid arrangement, rotten flesh can be smelted or smoked into leather, and concrete powder can be smelted or blasted into concrete. Mushroom blocks, deepslate and cobblestone have added stonecutting outputs, and dead bushes can be used to make saplings.
The mod modifies recipes rather than adding new items or blocks, so the world keeps its vanilla contents. Enchanted golden apples, horse armor, glow ink sacs, glow lichen, pointed dripstone and name tags are also covered by its changes. Because the environment is server-side only, players join without installing anything, and only the server needs the file.
Files are published for Fabric alone in six release builds. The latest file is 1.3.3-1.20.1 for 1.20.6, dated 2024-05-12. Recipe Tweaks is released under the MIT License and is open source, and its source code is public.
Key features
Shapeless bread and paper
Bread and paper recipes accept their ingredients in any arrangement instead of a fixed shape.
Smelting and smoking changes
Rotten flesh gives leather when smelted or smoked, and concrete powder turns into concrete in a furnace or blast furnace.
Stonecutting outputs
Mushroom blocks, deepslate, cobblestone and pointed dripstone gain extra stonecutter results.
Additional item recipes
Enchanted golden apples, horse armor, glow ink sacs, glow lichen, dead bushes and name tags have modified recipes.
Compatibility
Latest build for each game version and loader.
Only full game releases are shown. This mod publishes no snapshot builds.
Use cases
Who it’s for: Server owners who want to adjust how a fixed set of vanilla recipes behaves. Because only the server runs the mod, it suits multiplayer worlds where players stay on unmodified clients.
How it compares
SmartCraft is a Fabric mod for 1.20.1 – 1.20.6 that is client-side only and not open source under the MIT License, so it runs on players' clients rather than the server. Simple Rotten Flesh to Leather covers only the leather change, is published for 1.20.1 under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and needs both client and server. Stone Drops Itself is server-side only and open source under the MIT License, but its files cover 1.20 – 1.20.2.
