Randomized Default Fireworks
Randomized Default Fireworks changes how the default fireworks behave, so empty fireworks no longer stay plain and each one gets a random explosion.
What it does
Empty default fireworks get a randomly generated explosion, which removes the plain, unfinished look the vanilla item has. The effect applies to fireworks used by hand, fired from a dispenser, or launched from a crossbow, where a crossbow shot deals 6 damage in line with what a player would expect. Players who fly with an Elytra also see the randomized bursts when they boost.
The mod is server-side only, so only the server needs it and players join without installing anything. It is released under the MIT License as open source and depends on Fabric API, while Cloth Config API and Mod Menu are optional. Files exist for Fabric across 9 release versions, 1.19 – 1.20.4, with 1.2.0 for 1.20.4 as the latest build, last updated on 2024-04-14.

How it compares
Firework Customizer is a client and server mod for Fabric covering 1.20.1 – 1.20.6, and it is not open source under All rights reserved. No Firework Boosting is server-side only, open source under the CC0 1.0 Universal license, and covers 1.20 – 1.21.5, so it can run on a server without client installs. Spring Explosion is client and server, open source under the GNU General Public License v3.0 only, and targets Fabric for 1.20.1 alone.
