Potioncraft
by Sploder12
Potioncraft turns vanilla cauldrons into a brewing station, where players mix ingredients into potions the way a witch, wizard or alchemist would.
What it does
Potioncraft changes how cauldrons behave. Players combine ingredients inside a cauldron to brew a mixture, and the mixture is shown as translucent. A mixing cauldron serves only brewing: vanilla uses for it are blocked, and pistons cannot push or pull it. Emptying a cauldron with water dilutes the mixture until its effect is gone, and vanilla behavior is kept for plain water.
The mod adds balancing rules around potency. Potency is indicated by splashing and bubble sounds from the cauldron, and mixing a potion into an existing mixture at maximum potency keeps the result at that maximum. A milk bucket removes the effects of a potion. Server owners can change the limit on how many ingredients can be added to a single mixture, which is 5 by default, or turn the limit off in the config.
Potioncraft is a Fabric mod that needs Fabric API. Servers that run it need every player to install it too. Files are published for Fabric only, for 1.20 – 1.21.6 with four release versions, and the code is open source under the MIT License.
Key features
Cauldron brewing
Ingredients placed in a cauldron combine into a mixture that can be collected and used as a potion.
Translucent mixtures
A brewed mixture is drawn as translucent liquid, so its contents are visible in the cauldron.
Potency rules
Potency is capped, and adding a potion at maximum potency keeps the mixture at maximum potency.
Ingredient limit
The cap of 5 ingredients per mixture is a default that the config file lets server owners change or turn off.
Milk removes effects
Drinking from a milk bucket clears the effects of a potion, as vanilla milk does.
